Ask a question

I forgot my PIN. What do I do?

You can reset the Personal Identification Number (PIN) that you use when making purchases or at an ATM.

To reset the PIN on a Personal BMO Debit Card, please call the Customer Contact Centre at 1 800 363 9992.

If you are a Small Business customer with a BMO Debit Card for Business, please visit your BMO Bank of Montreal branch to reset your PIN.

To reset the PIN on your personal Credit Card:
1. Sign in with your Personal BMO Debit Card
2. Click My Profile & eDocuments tab
3. Click Change My PIN
4. Select your Credit Card
5. Enter your new PIN

To complete your PIN change, you’ll either need to make an in-store purchase, or visit any BMO Bank of Montreal ATM and make a cash withdrawal with your Credit Card and new PIN (this may incur a cash advance fee).

We recommend choosing a PIN that’s easy for you to remember, but hard for someone to guess. You should change your PIN periodically for extra security
